About Bill
A life shaped by service, listening, and helping you find your way forward.
Bill Blackburn, BA
Guiding you gently through change with trust and thoughtful conversation.
My life and work have been shaped by service, leadership, counseling, faith, and a lifelong interest in how people heal, grow, and find their way forward.
I served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era, working on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier where pressure, discipline, and teamwork were part of everyday life. Later, my path led into counseling, training, leadership, hotel operations, residential youth treatment, ministry, writing, and continued academic study.
Across those different settings, one theme has remained constant: people matter.
I have spent much of my life listening to people, helping them sort through difficult seasons, and encouraging them to reconnect with their own strength, values, and purpose. My work has included counseling and training, leading teams, serving young people in residential programs, supporting individuals through ministry, and writing books designed to encourage reflection, resilience, and hope.
More recently, my studies in psychology and mindfulness at The Evergreen State College have deepened my understanding of human behavior, emotional awareness, and the value of slowing down enough to notice what is really happening inside us.
My Philosophy
I do not believe people need to become someone else in order to heal or grow. Often, they simply need space to slow down, reflect honestly, and reconnect with what matters most.
Coaching, as I understand it, is not about giving quick answers or pretending life is simple. It is about thoughtful conversation, careful listening, honest reflection, and practical steps forward.
My approach is calm, respectful, faith-friendly when desired, and grounded in real-life experience. I work best with people who are facing change, looking for direction, sorting through life questions, or wanting to move into the next season of life with greater clarity and peace.
What You Can Expect
When we meet, you can expect a conversation that is personal, practical, and respectful. I will listen carefully. I will ask thoughtful questions. I will help you slow down long enough to hear your own wisdom and identify the next right step.
You do not have to have everything figured out before you begin.
You only need a willingness to pause, reflect, and take one honest step at a time
People do not hire a coach because of a title alone. They hire someone they believe they can trust.
